*TRAFFIC ALERT* Improving Surface on 4 Bridges, I-95N, Howard County Next Week

(August 7, 2026) – The Maryland State Highway Administration will be performing maintenance work to improve the roadway surface on four bridges along northbound I-95 in the Columbia area of Howard County. The project will start on Monday, August 10 and be completed by October, weather permitting.  

The project will focus on the following bridges on northbound I-95: 

  • ​Bridge over Middle Patuxent River
  • Bridge over Little Patuxent River
  • Bridge over eastbound MD 32
  • Bridge over westbound MD 32 

The work requires double-lane closures during work hours. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.  

The Maryland State Highway Administration is  Serious About Safety.  Pedestrians and motorists are urged to remain alert and avoid distractions when traveling through the work zone. Motorists should move over or slow down while driving in work zones. Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
