(October 15, 2026) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin improving the ride quality on MD 122 (Security Boulevard) in the Woodlawn area beginning as soon as Monday night, October 19. The work, which is along Security Boulevard between I-695 and the Baltimore City line near the I-70 Local interchange and Park and Ride Lot, is expected to be complete by early November, schedule and weather permitting.

Work on the $375,000 pavement safety enhancement project is expected to start on the eastbound lanes followed by the westbound lanes. Once work begins, overnight lane closures will be in effect on MD 122 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday nights to Thursday mornings.

During work hours, crews will be operating specialized equipment to micro-surface pavements to preserve and enhance pavement friction. Contractor Skidabrader LLC of San Diego, CA, will use temporary traffic signs, cones and barrels to guide drivers through the work zone.

Motorists should also be advised of ongoing resurfacing work on eastbound I-70 Local (MD 570) from east of I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) to the Baltimore City/County line near the Park and Ride Lot in Baltimore City. That work is part of a $252,000 areawide paving project.

The State Highway Administration is Serious About Safety. Motorists are urged to remain alert and avoid distractions when traveling through the work zone. Motorists should obey all posted speed limits and move over if possible. Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
